"المشهد في سوريا مؤلم ولبنان لا يحتمل الانقسام أو التبعية" في تصريح خاص خلال برنامج "لبنان اليوم" الذي يقدمه الإعلامي وائل خليل عبر منصة Lebanon Gate، علّق الدكتور بول الحامض على التطورات الإقليمية، مسلطًا الضوء على المشهد في سوريا وانعكاساته المحتملة على لبنان. وقال الحامض: "المشهد في سوريا مؤلم وصعب، وتمنينا لو لم نصل إلى هذا الوضع. لكن علينا الآن أن نتعامل مع الواقع بمنطق يحترم الخصوصية الطائفية والاجتماعية، ويأخذ بعين الاعتبار كل مكون بعيداً عن لغة الاقتتال". وأضاف: "إذا استمرت الأمور على ما هي عليه، فإننا لن نرى سلاماً أو استقراراً. نحن بحاجة إلى نموذج اتحادي يحفظ الكيانات ويجنبنا الصراعات، على غرار بعض دول الخليج التي أثبتت أن التعدد يمكن أن يتعايش في ظل نظام واضح وفاعل". وحذر الحامض من محاولات نقل تجربة سوريا إلى لبنان، قائلاً: "لا تستطيع أي طائفة أن تلغي الأخرى، لا في لبنان ولا في سوريا. الشعب اللبناني بطبعه كريم ومسامح، لكن الأبواب تُطرق من جديد نحو الفتنة، وعلينا التنبه". ودعا إلى استبعاد فكرة التقسيم نهائياً، مشدداً على أن "لبنان لا يُختصر بطائفة أو حزب، ولا مستقبل له إلا بالانفتاح والشراكة الوطنية". كما اعتبر أن الدعم العربي والدولي للأحزاب اللبنانية فشل، و"لم يثمر إلا مزيداً من الإنقسام على حساب المواطن". وانتقد الحامض أداء الحكومة اللبنانية، مشيراً إلى أن البلاد "تدار منذ شهور دون سلطة فعلية، ما يفسح المجال لتدخلات أجنبية، ويمنع أي نهوض حقيقي". وختم قائلاً: "شخص واحد لا يمكنه أن يحكم البلد، والتعيينات الإدارية خير دليل على غياب التوازن والمؤسسات". We had hoped things wouldn’t reach this point, but we must now deal with reality in a way that respects sectarian and social specificities—far from the language of violence and conflict,” Al-Hamoud stated. He stressed the importance of forming a clear federal model—similar to successful systems in some Gulf countries—that allows diverse components to coexist under an effective legal and institutional framework. “No sect can eliminate the other, whether in Syria or in Lebanon. The Lebanese people are inherently generous and forgiving, but the doors of strife are being knocked on again—we must remain vigilant,” he warned. Dr. Al-Hamoud firmly rejected the notion of division, asserting: “Lebanon is not defined by a party or a sect. Its future lies in openness and inclusive national partnership.” He also criticized the Arab and international support to Lebanese parties, saying it only resulted in deeper divisions at the expense of the people. He pointed to the lack of effective governance in Lebanon: “The country has been running for months without real authority, paving the way for foreign interference and blocking any genuine progress.” He concluded: “No single person can rule Lebanon. The imbalance in administrative appointments is proof of the absence of proper institutions.
